Dual ENC mics make the A66 a calling pair

The XIAOWTEK A66 is an in-ear stem earbud aimed at people who talk as much as they listen. Each bud carries dual hybrid ENC microphones, a setup that picks out your voice and filters the background around it. XIAOWTEK says the mics remove up to 85% of surrounding noise, so your caller gets your words rather than the traffic.

ENC stands for environmental noise cancellation. It works on the microphone side only: it cleans up what your caller hears, not what you hear. What you hear is shaped by the silicone tips instead: they close off the ear canal and muffle the outside world without any electronics.

  • Commuters: calls from a bus stop or a busy platform come through cleaner.
  • Home workers: a barking dog or a dishwasher intrudes less on meetings.
  • Parents: quick calls from the school gate without shouting.
  • Gamers: voice chat on a console or laptop, since the A66 works with both.

Music gets attention too. The 13.4mm drivers use a graphene diaphragm, a light, stiff material that XIAOWTEK tunes for strong bass, clear mids and bright highs. With the tips sealed properly, the low end has real weight for a budget pair.

Call tip: wind hits any mic hard. On a gusty day, angle yourself so the gusts hit your back, or cup a hand near the bud, and the ENC has far less to clean up.

Each in-ear bud weighs about 4 grams. That is light enough for back-to-back meetings, and the soft tip carries the load, so nothing presses on the outer ear.

Newcomers to wireless buds get an easy start: no app, no account, and the same case-and-tap routine as every i12-style pair.

A lanyard case with battery digits you can clip on

The A66 case solves two small annoyances at once. A lanyard is attached, so you can loop it onto keys, a bag strap or a belt loop instead of digging through pockets. On the front, an LED display shows the power level in digits, so there is no guessing whether today's commute is covered.

Here is how the case handles a typical week:

  • Per charge: up to 8 hours of music from the buds.
  • With case refills: up to 50 hours in total.
  • At a glance: the display shows how much is left before you head out.
  • On the go: clipped to a bag, the case is always within reach for a top-up.

Fifty hours is a lot of listening. A commuter with an hour each way could go several weeks between case charges, and a student with a few hours of lectures a day about two weeks. Treat those figures as a ceiling, since loud music and chatty days drain the buds sooner.

ChargingCable, no wireless pad

The A66 fills up by cable only, so leave a USB lead in your bag or at your desk. A phone charger you already own does the job.

A small case on a lanyard does take knocks. Black hides scratches well, which suits a case that swings from keys all day. If you would like a brighter color with the same features, the XIAOWTEK S66 comes in purple.

Keep the lanyard loop away from the charging port when you plug in, so the cable seats fully. The charging guide explains digit displays and what to do if a bud stops filling up.

Bluetooth 5.4 pairing and touch control on the A66

Setup on the A66 is quick. After the first pairing, just take both buds out of the case and they connect to your phone on their own. Bluetooth 5.4 keeps the link stable and the range generous, so the phone can stay on the desk while you walk around the room.

  1. Fill the case until its digits reach the top.
  2. Lift both buds out at once so they pair up as a set.
  3. Open Bluetooth on your phone, tablet or laptop and choose the A66.
  4. Next time, lifting the buds out is enough to reconnect.

The A66 works with smartphones, tablets, laptops, desktops, TVs and game consoles that support Bluetooth audio. No app is involved; the pairing guide shows where to find the Bluetooth menu on each.

Touch pads on the buds take care of music, calls and your voice assistant. Which tap does what is spelled out in the leaflet, and the touch cheat card covers common patterns. A gentle tap on the flat top of the bud works better than a push.

  • Tips first: a proper seal matters for bass and for comfort, so settle the fit before judging the sound.
  • After workouts: IPX7 shrugs off sweat and rain, but towel the buds off before docking them.
  • One side silent: return both buds to the case, close it, and take them out together again.

If the silent side persists, forget the A66 on your phone and pair from scratch, or follow the left-right reset.

Moving between devices is simple as well. Turn off Bluetooth on the phone, then pick the A66 on the laptop or console, and it switches over.

A66, S66 or A40 Pro: three XIAOWTEK pairs sorted

XIAOWTEK makes several i12-style pairs, and three of them are easy to mix up. The A66 and S66 share the same core, with 13.4mm graphene drivers, dual ENC mics, Bluetooth 5.4, 50 hours and an LED case. The older A40 Pro takes a different route with a half in-ear shape and a plain case.

Pick the A66 if:

  • You want black buds that hide wear.
  • A lanyard case suits the way you carry things.
  • Calls from noisy places are part of every day.

Go for the S66 when color matters more, or the A40 Pro if sealed tips are not for you and you would rather hear the room around you.

Before ordering, check the fit question honestly. In-ear tips give the A66 its bass and its passive quiet, but some people never get comfortable with anything inside the ear canal. If that sounds like you, the half in-ear A40 Pro or an open stem is the kinder choice, whatever the spec sheet says.

All three pairs carry a one-year XIAOWTEK warranty, so the choice really does come down to fit, color and the case. Keep the box and order details in a drawer; it makes any warranty claim quicker.

For shade ideas beyond black, the colors guide walks through white, dark blue and the pastel options across the family.

Quick answers

Before these go in your ears

Does the XIAOWTEK A66 have noise cancelling?

Its dual hybrid ENC mics cancel background noise on calls, so your voice comes through clearly. For your own listening, the silicone tips block outside noise passively.

How many hours will the A66 play?

Eight hours from full buds, and around 50 once the case refills are counted. The LED display shows the remaining power.

XIAOWTEK A66 or S66: how do they differ?

They share the same drivers, mics, Bluetooth 5.4 and 50-hour battery. Pick the A66 for black buds and a lanyard on the case, or the S66 for purple buds with three tip sizes packed alongside.

Is the A66 waterproof?

The buds are rated IPX7 against sweat, rain and splashes. Pool laps and showers are off limits, and a quick dry before charging keeps the contacts happy.

Can I use the A66 with a game console or TV?

Yes, with any console or TV that supports Bluetooth audio. Pair it from the device's Bluetooth menu like a phone.
